Google My Business App Is Being Discontinued
Recently, many users received an email from Google stating "The Google My Business app is being discontinued." This raised the question: "Is Google Business (Google My Business) shutting down completely?" Since Google previously discontinued Google+ services, this announcement led to concerns that the My Business service might also be terminated.
What is Google My Business?
Google My Business is the business profile that appears on the right side of the Google search engine results page when a business name is searched. This profile includes the business’s name, photo, logo, phone number, address, directions, and reviews.
When you search for a business online, this profile is the most accurate guide to business information, as Google verifies businesses through various methods. These verification methods include postcard to address, phone verification, or email verification.
"Update how you communicate with customers. Soon, the Google My Business app will no longer be available. You’ll be able to manage your Business Profile using Google Maps and Search instead. Millions of merchants have already started using Google Maps or Search for this purpose."
For some time, Google has encouraged managing business listings directly through Google Search and Google Maps. Now, with the complete removal of the Google My Business dashboard, business owners will continue to manage details such as phone number, address, directions, and photos via Google Search or Maps.
Google has not yet made a clear statement about whether all Google Business features will continue to be available via Google Search and Maps. However, no major changes are expected for the majority of core features.
